Countries like Germany also have different syllabuses available to Indian students at lower cost, yet students choose different countries to study. According to Sumit Jain, co-founder of Yoket, India's largest community-based platform for study abroad, the depreciation of the rupee has resulted in an average additional cost to the US of Rs. 1.5-2 lakh has increased. However, students do not make decisions without thinking. Sometimes when students only apply to Canadian schools, they don't change countries. Some of those students are trying to take PR after education and there is no point in looking towards other countries. Many students keep options open and focus more on education. They also consider other options. America has done very well in the STEM syllabus. For non STEM we can say that the UK and Australia will receive more students.

Many countries have lifted the Covid restrictions. According to industry experts, the number of Indian students going to countries such as the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, Ireland and New Zealand could reach one million by early 2022, almost double the pre-pandemic levels. The number of applications has increased a lot as compared to earlier, due to which now it is taking time to get the visa. Ghosh, a student resident of Kolkata, said that it is taking around 440 days to get a visa from here.
